Karel Havlíček is a Czech composer, pianist, and multi-instrumentalist based between Prague and Los Angeles, known for his emotionally driven orchestral scores and cinematic storytelling across film, television, trailers, and live performance.
His credits include original scores for the internationally acclaimed feature Lion Ark (US, 2013), Carpe Noctem (US, 2022), and the Czech Lion-nominated feature The Brothers (CZ, 2023), the Czech Republic's official submission for the Academy Awards® in the Best International Feature Film category. He has also composed music for HBO Europe's acclaimed series Terapie (CZ, 2014–2019) and Mamon (CZ, 2015), composed the official trailer music for HBO's US series The Penguin (DC/Batman Universe, 2024), and most recently composed the trailer score for Amazon Prime Video's original series ELLE (US Original, 2026).
Karel received a Czech Lion Award nomination for Best Original Score for The Brothers (2024). His work has also been featured in several acclaimed productions recognized by the Czech Lion Awards, including Mamon (2015), which won Best TV Series, and Profesor T (2018) and Vzteklina (2018), both nominated for Best TV Series. In 2026, he was recognized by OSA (the Czech Performing Rights Society) as one of the Top Three Most Successful Czech Composers Abroad, acknowledging the international reach of his work.
After spending several years in Los Angeles, Karel now works primarily from his Prague-based Kabelovna Studios. Following his debut album Spoken (2020) and the critically acclaimed double album It's Never Late to See the Light(2025), he recently released the single Return of the Sun (2026), continuing to develop his distinctive blend of orchestral, electronic, and cinematic music.
An official Petrof Pianos artist and ambassador, Karel performs internationally as both a solo pianist and with full orchestras, creating immersive cinematic concerts that merge classical performance with modern production and visual storytelling. Highlights include a sold-out concert at Prague's O2 Universum with an 80-piece orchestra before an audience of more than 3,000, along with performances across Europe and beyond.
Known for his emotional storytelling and contemporary orchestral sound, Karel continues to build an international career across feature films, premium television, trailers, and concert stages, seamlessly bridging Hollywood productions and the European concert scene.
